Lessons of Love
She heard a woman screaming across the street behind a door in pain
Begging, crying, going in vain
Dreadful, vulnerable, hissed for life
"Is life this cheap?" voice came from lady beside
"No heart, such devil beings"
For her, words soundless under those horrific cries
Even her tiny body shivered covering ears
"Poor slave, how can they live like that, I would've died !"
The lady took her small hand, covered in exquisite shades of red and blue
With unusual mound of skin, soft, tender in artistic hue
Soul screamed, wondering why she can feel every hit, blow, gash; terrorized
"Why mom?" her voice whispered wanting to finish: why slave? But her voice died
They had no answers, just tongue clicked,
Head shook sideways, mourn and pitied
Pitied through words, then a sigh
They sympathized - proved, they have a heart.
But then window closed, voice gone
Or maybe not
She held her book again, ignoring everything, even shivers
"Continue"
"Th-this i-s s-k-k" A striking flush on her cheek shimmers
Like pedantic lightning wanting to illuminate her
Not a single forbidden water fell- perfect girl!
Lack of water led to those stoic pupils dry
But that timid frame made the strongest barrier, heavy enough to crack the soul
Obedient little eyes have learnt to not let the futile salt flow
They just looked down, the way morals are
meant to grow
"Read it clearly!" Instructions for her bright future echoed
"S-s-k-k...sk-y" ill-mannered voice trembled
This time hand, again a beautiful radiant bulge
"Why can't you?" "Enough with the obstinacy!"
Lessons of love were taught-they're necessary
Why?-cause they care about her, too much
"We feed you, keep you...isn't it enough?"
Sweet caring moral words, saturated with life
kept gouging into her mind, heart
and soul delight
She, all still, no movement but alive- obedient, Good!
She's lucky, they love her
'They have a heart'
And....
She's not a slave!
