Lend Me Your Key Chain

Words fall asleep at the back of the mind,

Silence locks the door; diffidence throws away the key

Leaving ineffable stutters within me,

As they weave strands of doubt into quilts of a kind

New smells and new pictures are all gently tucked away

As sounds of new voices stroll quietly inside,

In a slippery labyrinth; to where there is no pride

Unable to wake the faith of the soul that quietly lay

I’m awake and I heed every ounce of each breath,

But the quilts’ lush warmth never leaves the head

Clenching, I fumble with what I can give you

The key to this connection has bid my mind adieu
