Last Goodbye

1 min read

By Rhea Rouseau The day we met, my heart set free

For some weird reasons, I could never agree

Months went by, we grew never apart

You were a part of me and I was in yours.

I always felt it, a rush, a sense of being free

When we brushed against each other, we could feel giddy

When our hands met for the first time

Or when your thoughts matched mine.

I felt it and I know you did too.

A rush of adrenaline run through you.

We grew apart or so we tried

But one way or the other you end up in my sight

Our meaningless talks and stories alike.

We lived the same story with just two people at sight.

Sometimes, those moments were you touched me, told me

“Hey, your just going through a phase”

Or that simple urge to run into your arms at the dawn of dismay.

You held me, told me “nothing stays the same”.

And when all is well, not just mine but your soul as well.

We’d talk about those soulful days that were once a dwell

And to fantasize those impossible things,

which we sometimes wish we could rejoice again.

Those sparks, those remembrance, were just me and you

They saw us like siblings, but we both knew it was untrue.

But the day had come for us to depart,

I never knew why, I never knew how far.

But all I hope is that this isn’t our last goodbye.
