Lady Love
By Vaishali Neotia
She loved her something deep
Her best friend of many years
The kind that stirs desires asleep Heteronormative society demurs
She yearned to Be with her
In every sense of the word
Living, loving, hearts aflutter
Time, souls and bodies blurred
They were walking that day
Hand in hand, laughter abound
4 angry men blocked their way
both were thrown on the ground
We will help cure you they said
Each pseudo moralistic bastard
2 pinned hands 2 kept legs spread All 4 did the act fully mastered
Monsters left and the moon shone Gandhi's monkeys passed by
The 2 women lay bleeding alone Only Nightingales cried a lullaby
She dragged herself to her love
Broken wrists shaking to wake her Nothing helped no push no shove Dead. It was enough to break her
In her arms she held her head
Rocked her lover in final sleep
Kissed her as she would in bed
Then screams came from the deep
She cried tears of blood and rage Screaming, ranting at the cruel world That trapped them in its heartless cage Where love died as freedom flags unfurled
