La La Land
By Joseph Prem
Everyone has their own lens
that helps to see the world that
is within this sphere of rocks.
I carry a music lens that
skims through your playlist
before I start sharing the
rythmic ballads of my life.
They said,
lyrics made a song
worth spending your minutes of long.
I deny,
and it's not a lie.
I wailed the lyrics on and on
when I was moving on,
but appreciated the music
like never before
when I stopped to suffer.
I knew the pain was behind
me when I was no longer
self-centered around the
lyrics but began to
appreciate the music.
I found my key to unlock
the world and I'm happy
to still keep looking, for there
is more music to dance for.
Life was always a musical
with the heart beat in lieu of
a cacophony of tunes.
I just lacked the
right lens to see the Opera
that was made just for me.
