Kismet

His smile, oh! his laugh,

a melody I can’t hold.

Like a paper bird, I fold in half,

not realizing the horror that unfolded.

His eyes searched for her,

as hope slipped off my hold.

I saw his eyes shine at her,

and the world moved around me, slowed.

For in my soul, a fire burned bright,

my destiny will be forever undone.

So let this be my testament,

Indeed, I wasn’t the chosen one.
