Kintsugi
The art of mending what’s been broken,
Lacing fractures with threads of gold.
They say it makes the piece more precious
More valued now than what was whole.
Even so, not all returns.
Though it’s whole, some parts are missing.
Sure, it might be even stronger
But strength like this comes with a cost.
Fixing what is torn or shattered
Is never simple, never clean.
Like crumpled paper, smoothed again
But never truly pristine.
The cracks remain, the scars still show,
Etched like memories in clay.
The gold adds beauty, depth, and meaning,
But can’t bring back what slipped away.
Kintsugi, they call it art
A grace that stitches pain with pride.
But maybe it was never meant
To fix what’s broken deep inside.
It’s not repair… It’s recognition.
Not forgetting, not disguising.
It’s accepting, understanding,
Letting loss be realized.
To honor every fractured line,
To let the damage speak, not hide
To bow before the past, and say:
“You broke me… and I survived.”
