Just Yesterday

Just Yesterday I ran,

Arms outstretched, pigtails flying.

Laughing at the top of my lungs.

No stress!

Just Yesterday, I drank milk from the bottle

Delivered by the milkman,

along with the orange juice.

No stress!

Just Yesterday, I laid on my back on the field,

Watching the clouds, with the stem of a wildflower dangling from my mouth. No stress!

Just Yesterday, I was surrounded by friends,

Hide and seek, having concerts,

Playing by the river.

No stress.

What happened to that yesterday?

Where did it go?

The milkman stopped coming,

The clouds disappeared.

The river is contaminated.

The friends….far and few.

And so much Stress!!!!
