Just A Shenanigan
By Unnati Naik
What dissolves by itself?
How do you get better feeling … nothing?
Don’t mind the hostility
My words they are merely a shenanigan
I am exhausted, tired
Maybe angry, even upset
And I am capable of running away
You are tying me in knots of dismay
Cried,
Screamed
my misery is not comprehendible?
Or so it seems
shattered from glued up pieces
devastated
Confused
Should I wish to go back to solitude?
Before I come up with any solution
Here it is again,
the abuse
Your words, punches
Your actions, injure and bruise
I was capable of holding in the pain
But now I can't breathe
This is my enough
Or so it feels, for the hundredth time
Is my courage all in vain?
you assault my integrity
As though I am a painted victim
you insult my being
Like slavery had always been a choice I made
We come from different beliefs
But I always focused on your ways
I obeyed and submitted
Time and time again
And still, you mistrust and curse
It is true, that I should go,
For in this relation, I won't have a say
Fear to lose you doesn't last forever
And I did stay,
for I have patience
I had an abundance of kindness and love
And tolerance for my throttled heart
And for I hoped and prayed
Now, I speak my mind,
And you threaten my existence
For sane ones would bang a hammer right away,
But for the insane
Isn't this an acceptable behaviour?
There is no physical assault
There is no visible harm or crime
How could I ever prove being harassed
It's all my fault
It's definitely me versus my abused mind
