I remember

The first day you came home

You were just as scared as us

It was a new place for you

Just as it was a new start for us

I remember

You were ready to play

But we were scared we might hurt you

We learnt to pamper and play with you

Just as you learnt to play with us

I remember

Your first hospital visit

It was for a small wound

Didn't know how you got it

First scare for us thinking, are we good to raise you

I remember

When we heard that hard truth

Deadly disease which had caught you

We cried for hours

Thinking there is no saving you

I remember

Your first love of grass

The way you ran like there is no tomorrow

Hoping to give you many more like this Just stay with us few more

I remember

First time we were apart for a day

It was the longest day of our life

Videos the daycare sent wasn't enough Neither could we bear the silence in the house

I remember

Your 1st year birthday

All your friends were invited

We were just glad you passed the first hurdle Among the many to come

I remember

Longest time we being far

The challenging 10 days

Felt helpless and worried

Once you were back held you tight never to let go

I remember

Your first train ride of 36 hours

It felt like a joy ride and went in a flush You didn't make much fuss

Rather enjoyed every second, sound and sight

I remember

Your first visit to grandparents house

It was spent in jumping around the house

You made so many new friends

Such that it became your second home

I remember

Your Second birthday

We couldn't celebrate much

Promise of fun day with you running on grass was made But I knew in my heart you just needed us

I remember

An oath taken

To love and cherish you

To bring more smiles to your face

Just as you bring smile and happiness to us

I remember

how you have changed us just by being with us

You made us more mature and responsible

You taught us to love without expectations

Thank you for coming to our life and having this journey with us
