Journey Of A Life Time
By Rohan Mathew
I hold my son's hand as we take to the sky,
A father and his child, flying so high,
But my heart is heavy, my wife is not here,
She's in the hospital, her health unclear.
My son looks around, eyes wide with awe,
As we soar through the clouds, he lets out a drawl,
He's anxious, unsure, in this unfamiliar place,
But I reassure him with a smile on my face.
We buckle our seatbelts, settle in our seat,
I try to distract him with a game so sweet,
But he's restless, fidgety, can't understand,
Why mommy's not with us, hand in hand.
I explain to him, in words so kind,
That mommy's not well, but she's on my mind,
We're going to visit her, in a foreign land,
So he can see her, and hold her hand.
We land at last, our journey complete,
We rush to the hospital, our hearts on repeat,
My son walks quietly, beside my side,
As we enter the ward, where my wife abides.
She's lying-in bed, pale and weak,
But she smiles as we approach, oh so meek,
My son reaches out, touches her hand,
She looks at him with love so grand.
We wait by her side, day after day,
Praying for her health, come what may,
My son brings her drawings, with colors bright,
Her face lights up, it's a beautiful sight.
We talk, we laugh, we share our love,
My son's presence, a blessing from above,
He brightens her days, brings her cheer,
Her recovery seems to be drawing near.
And as the days pass, a miracle unfolds,
My wife gains strength, her spirit bold,
She's on the mend, getting better each day,
My son's love, a healing ray.
Finally, the day comes when we can leave,
My wife is discharged, her smile a weave,
We leave the hospital, hearts aglow,
Our journey of love, with a happy glow.
We board the plane, hand in hand,
Heading back home, to our promised land,
My son looks out the window, with a gleeful grin,
His mom by his side, a victory we win.
The flight is smooth, the sky so bright,
My wife's health restored, a beacon of light,
We land with joy, our hearts full of grace,
Thankful for each other, in this blessed place.
And as we embrace, reunited as one,
I thank the stars, for all we've done,
Our journey of love, a tale to tell,
Of hope, resilience, and love that went well
