Jealousy

I am jealous.

Jealous of the blanket

that feels the warmth of your body at night.

Jealous of the pillow

that rests against your cheek so right.

Jealous of the bolster

you hold when you drift away.

Jealous of the person

who sat beside you today.

Jealous of the people

who heard your voice.

Jealous of the ones

who make you laugh and rejoice.

Jealous of the people

who sees you every single day.

Jealous of the very air around you

where they get to stay.

It’s true. I am jealous.

Because every one of them gets

to be closer to you.
