it would hurt my heart if you

looked me in the eyes 

and told me nothing was ever

there 

because you must have felt it 

I know you must have 

in the way you locked eyes

with me and teased me about 

classes 

and the hair that was always 

a little in my face

we never kissed 

we never even held hands 

but something was there 

wasn’t it?

I just want you to say it, just 

one time 

because it would hurt my

 heart if I realized 

you were never, just a little

bit,

 mine.
