You lost a competition,
You didn’t get selected as an anchor,
The girl you love didn’t choose you,
You lost someone to death,
Natural disasters took place,
If any one or all of these things happened with you, what would you do? GRIEVE right?
Well, grieving is something natural and a necessary process for human beings to accept the reality and heal but dwelling on these things... that’s not good. This is when IT IS WHAT IT IS attitude comes in handy.
Just say IT IS WHAT IT IS, accept the reality and move on. There’s nothing you can do.
Now you’ll ask, “What exactly is this phrase?”
Well, IT IS WHAT IT IS is a simple yet profound phrase that encapsulates the essence of acceptance and surrender. Essentially it’s a reminder to focus on what we can control and accept what we can’t change.
To make it more interesting let’s create a hypothetical situation where you love a girl. Though it’s one-sided, it doesn’t matter to you. Your love for her is endless. You have changed a lot and have become a gentleman for HER.
You are so deeply in love with her but what if she chooses someone else, scary right? Still find an answer to what will you do in such a case (for safety reasons of course). We’ll come on it later in the blog.
Still doubting IT IS WHAT IT IS theory? Read these verses from BHAGAVAD GITA:
“You have the right to perform your prescribed duties but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions.” (Chapter 2, verse 47)
This verse reminds us that while we have control over our actions, we cannot always control the outcomes. It encourages us to focus on doing our best without being attached to specific results, aligning perfectly with the essence of “It is what it is.”
“Elevate yourself through the power of your mind, and not degrade yourself, for the mind can be the friend and also the enemy of the self.” (Chapter 6, Verse 5)
Here, Lord Krishna emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and not letting our thoughts sabotage us. By cultivating inner strength and resilience, we can navigate life’s challenges with a sense of equanimity, embodying the spirit of acceptance.
Now these verses must have opened up your minds so let’s get back to our hypothetical situation.
So, what will you do? You have an answer, right? I just told you to find one as YES, SHE CHOSE SOMEONE ELSE.
“I’ll try my best to prove to her that I’m better than that guy, will overlove her, will take extra care of her, bla bla bla.” If this is your answer, then sorry my friend but the answer is wrong.
The right answer ie to be mature and respect her decision. She had the right to decide from the very beginning and now when the decision is made, just accept it and move on. Look at the positives. Besides the efforts, the results were never in your hand so embrace it and move on.
You did your best, now it’s time to say IT IS WHAT IT IS and move on. You have a whole life ahead where you have to grow each and every day.
In conclusion, I’ll just say that ‘It Is What It Is’ reminds us to approach life with acceptance and resilience, knowing that sometimes, things simply unfold as they are meant to. So let’s continue to navigate life’s journey with an open heart and a mindset of acceptance, embracing each moment for what it is.
