Is This What Love Does?
By Chitra Chidambaram
I paint the stars with my eyes the moon is fighting shy I swallow the moonlight and frolic in its sky the stars twinkle in naked delight the moon rushes to catch me the stars sprinkle their light revealing me the grateful moon kisses their dust I wonder, 'is this what love does, sprinkle stardust?' I look behind tripping on my inertia I look on, as a cloud of dreamy trance cushions my fall I giggle away, enjoying this play a mock free for all I lie, content, happy to be caught, happy to be found. the moon smiles I return its light I've had my fill tranquillity washes over me eyes dream on in the joyous mind of a nobody waltzing happily in the welcoming arms of somebody.
