Insanity
By Jinal Mistry
All of these vain vamities,
That we normalize,
Restrictions in disguise,
Usurp my freedom of will,
The wish to action,
Barricaded by approval,
The voice of the heart,
Suppressed if not intellectual,
Imbibing embarrassment,
In each word and motive,
Pure yet spontaneous..
Alas! We only hold our hands,
In a crisp prayer,
While seeking refuge,
In those recurring fantasies,
Unfulfilled, unwanted and unseen.
Sinful secrets become those,
Clandestine in closets,
From families, friends and God's,
They know but the sealed lips,
Silently waver ,always keen...
Asking, muttering,
"Why is pursuit of one's desires
At times when liberty is allowed
Banished to the insane?"
And then, hearts grumble hatred,
Each to the other, in a vicious cycle,
Of adulthood and temptous sins,
Of being true to Thyself,
Why do we normalize what we can't accept?
Why are we still in the pursuit,
Of what can't be achieved?
