What an amazing journey its been,

Of a country all of us has known and seen.

Which once cried for freedom and liberty;

Is now free and the biggest democracy.

Ruled by rulers of different kinds,

We did not blame, we did not whine

We fought for our liberation, fought for our pride

Look at us now, how bright we shine

Booming in tech, in arts and science

Economy marching ahead with time

Governments changed but we are the same,

making progress everyday, valuing every dime

now we produce our own grain and salt

we don’t need to depend on anyone’s lot

providing the surplus to our neighbours in need

just watch how the rupee will soon be on the top

its incredible that we have come so far

once subdued by british, which gave us so many scars

we have a long way to go, lot of obstacles ahead

but we are not going to stop until we reach the bar
