Incubus
By Jinal Mistry
A lifelong ambition
A journey planned
A trajectory envisioned
Yet even a step not taken.
Every day, a vicious cycle
A battle of the expectancy of hatred,
Buried and entangled in despair
That hoped once
For an amber dawn
Yet,
A day of procrastination
A night to contemplate
This abominable soul
For how it has regressed
For what it could have become
A dream of a success
Tainted yet untouched
Lays buried underneath
A world of self depreciation
Pain engraved on this life,
While hope withers in wait.
How much could the worldly pleasures have materialized?
A pipe dream....on the ninth cloud?
Vain tantrums and complaints ?
Ephemeral, they couldn't fulfill the hole
Of a heart tattered,
On that cliff
Where he once dreamt,
Of a prodigious flight,
Now dreads the edge of a fall,
Nigh! His efforts grow stale!
.
Yet, nothing's set in stone
No answer , no words can redeem
Him from that illusion
For what he truly couldn't manifest
Was the belief...
That those wings would never let him fall...
