Inconsequential Us

The world will wither away,

One day it will,

The Mayan said it be 2012,

Scientist say it be some trillion years or so,

That’s all good and all,

Why bother, it'll all crumble and fall.

So tiny we are, but not an ant,

Neither are we some stars,

Just some withering humans we are,

Do what you can, just think not too hard,

Those thoughts will never be heard,

Like another sob story of a pessimistic nerd.

Thinking about the world,

It's all just a blur of ifs and buts,

I try to find some meaning in the blur,

All I found is that my thoughts recur,

It’s all make-believe now i think,

I hope all this disappears when I blink.

The rules of the universe should be simple,

Even in this labyrinthian world,

Or this could be the Matrix and all of us just zeros and ones,

Grand scheme of the universe is futile(benign),

Or so I think, I could just be the fool,

Or I could be breaking some cosmic rule?
