In The Woods
By Sudiksha Raman
Amidst the rustling of leaves, swaying of trees
Sat a little girl whose mind an absentee
The leaves as a bed
Her body supported by the nark
She lay there heedlessly
Listening to the lullaby of the lark
Her head bent down, hair in the face
Lifted up by the wind with a gentle lace
The little girl’s eyes opened
As the clouds above thundered
She got up looking her and there
I am far from home she wondered
She started walking
The leaves crunching beneath her feet
AS the raindrops drizzled
She looked up, listening to every beat
I am not far from home
She whispered in the air
Her face angelic and beautiful as she smiles
This is the place all my life I’ve known
She breathed in the air
Looking forward, walking the rest of the miles
