In The Mess Hall

Often I pray to the mess walls to talk to me

A child vexed by society

Where empty fields are not fenced from conformity

The food on my plate is void of spunk

My cochlear libido is tired of stale bread hunk

Seeking the honey-dripping tongue of a romantic punk

Orotund laughter smothers the otherwise dead room

The lads aren't worried about project deadline doom

Perhaps Fawkes faces mitigate temporary gloom

In this gathering of peckish youths

A seemingly cordial bear takes a seat beside me,

Rekindling my hope for that sweet honey
