In The End
By Subhagata Chowdhury
Sensations fleeting away, all that remains is a hand,
Temptations still blinding me, playing tricks on my mind-
You seek the sunlight but in my misfortune I can’t,
After my demise all will be yours, but nothing will be mine.
If the angel’s wings don’t shroud me in a warm embrace
But the raven bearing its talons should come and capture me
In my peril I will neither shriek nor greet it with a pale face
But I will let it pervade my body, and let it enrapture me.
The blank canvas stares at me, waiting for its first stroke
Life should be drawn, but life is images in a strange assortment
I asphyxiate in black, contemplate as I lay down and croak
I dabble my pain brush, and dabble to finish my death portrait.
When the time comes I will disappear, when I have done enough
All hope and light of life did I already vanquish
Leaving my pragmatic self, devoid of any blinding love
Dance to my death…dance to my psalm of anguish.
