In Her Eyes
By Dhruva Nandakumar
She spoke through her eyes. I listened through my soul
A maiden draped in velvet light
like floating dreams on a starry night
Deep in her eyes, sojourned a glow
a joy that tore through every woe
Her eyes, lost and moonlight pale
like trees before a hungry gale
The oozing of a filthy lause,
a whisper in the charnel house
Her perishing eyes clad in sable,
like echos of a silent fable
The crimson snow sings her breath
Her eyes play the notes of death
Scarlet eyes and raining flame,
a poison in the depths of fame
She stands, drowning in carmine rain
as a quelling blaze in the icy plain
Taunted by the merciless folk,
the angels fled and demons spoke
As the mirror stripped her vice,
Disgust is all that filled her eyes
The hazel in her satin eyes
that sunshine smile, them dreamy lies
She's like a child in wonderland,
a budding flower in the lifeless sand
All the stars that fill the skies
and all the rubies of the sea
could not, in all of time suffice
for all my warmth is in her eyes.
