Imperfection
By Monalisa Nahak
It drives me to apprehension,
When I don’t see them proud.
Just a word I seek, of appreciation;
Instead I hear my heartbeats loud.
All the endurance and every effort;
In silence, I went through mayhem.
They thought the world was what I sought;
But it was all about a little praise from them.
One mistake is all it takes,
For them to misjudge me.
It pierces my heart, the look on their face.
There’s only praise for those I envy.
To tell you something unmarked,
You can never have a clean slate
Once your character is marred
By a single fault on your part.
