If This Is The Last Time ( Covid-19 Poem)

By Shweta Sharma

If this is the last time I'm sitting here by my window Looking over to the horizon, at the distant fairy lights show So magical and bright Whispering wishes do come true I'll close my eyes and let its beauty pass me through and through. I’d wish for the wind

To be the silent messenger

Dancing to invisible tunes

Carrying letters of different colours

I’d wish for it to never stop

and feel it on my skin

And feel alive like a child

Once that I had been

I’d wish to see the rains drops

Falling in the streetlight

Painting nostalgic pictures

In colours just so bright

I’d wish to relive all of it

feeling the water on my cheeks

as my soul gets drenched in happiness

Hearing the water in the old creaks

I’d wish to hear the cricket song

In the mystical night

When the world is silently sleeping

As times make everything right

When the stars will be high

I’d wish to see them twinkling bright

And I’d Wish to shine like them

Before fading out of sight

I’d wish to feel the cool water

Of the ocean waves on my feet

As it craves for more love

From the shore, it never meets

I’d wish to dive into its depths

As it lays its secrets bare

And yearn to see more and more

As my lungs start begging for air

I’d wish to lie on the velvet grass

And see the fleecy clouds

taking shapes from my imagination

A land far from the crowds

I’d wish to walk on the grass

In the mornings again

And feel the dew drops graze

My feet alleviating all my pain

I’d wish to feel the warm sun

Before it starts pricking my skin

See its magical colours

While in the ocean it sinks

I’d wish to see it shine golden

As it comes up the other side

Showing me the road to heaven

Leaving no place to hide

I’d wish to run wild and free

In mountains and open fields

fast as my legs can carry me

Before to the sickness they yield

I’d wish to fly like the wind

If the laws of nature allow

And see miles of land beneath me

As I fly among the clouds

So, if this is the last time

I'm able to wish at all

Sitting by my window

Making this last call

Seeing the distant fairy lights

Blink away in the night

As they tell me to wish

Before we go out of sight

I’d wish for my swan song

To be loud and clear

For it to bring courage and

Vanish all the fears

I’d wish to be heard

By all the magical stars above

So that I can fade away

Surrounded by true love.
