If Only
By Praneet Sarkar
Setting eye on you
Was a sin, I now realise...
For the heart now craves
It's twin, that was you throughout, in disguise.
Why is it when two eyes lock,
The resting heart is stirred by a thrill
And the silent soul finds the door
To a dimension where time stands still?
Why is it that when you look away,
The frozen eyebrow melts into a dome,
The now hollow heart rushes
To invite you back home?
Now the mesmerized mind fantasizes
The beginning of 'something new',
And plays it over and over and over again
Starting with the same, but with endings quite a few.
And yet the heart and the mind clash;
Dissimilarity, discrepancy and disparity stand like a wall.
Without the mind and heart, the eye is blinded;
A pit of hesitation is where I am destined to fall!
Nothing is enough now, it seems....
Not knowing the beginning, nor the end.
The conflict between the mind and the heart;
I am always unable to comprehend.
If only I had the bravery to admit
If only I had the courage to speak
If only I had the ability to convince
If only I could perceive....that I was done being weak.
