identity

i know hunger for its violence

for the claws that carefully cut

through my stomach

spilling acid on the corners

of a page that hold a story

i will never tell

i know hunger for its madness

and how it eats at the mind

chewing on every hope and dream

every moment and memory

swallowing ink and

leaving nothing but bones

i know hunger for its pain

how it pokes and probs

at the softest parts

searching for the start

trying to decide which hurt is mine

i know hunger for its emptiness

how it hollows out history

eating every touch every reach every embrace

stealing everything i was and

everything i will be

until it is all i have left

i know hunger for how it becomes me
