I Wonder
By Shashwat Thakur
I wonder if you will look for me
When I wander in the streets of despondency.
I wonder if you will think of me
When I stay away from you and your stark reality.
There were times when you loved me
Or at least, you pretended that you did
But then the thread that joined us broke
And that was the end of your pretense
‘Cause love is neither pretense nor a lie
And you can’t fake it for a long time!
You never mustered the courage to rise
From those moments of utter misery
But you had the audacity to execute
All of your nefarious plans every time
To shame love and spread dejection
‘Cause you never understood love!
I wonder if you will care for me
When I am lost in the depths of melancholy.
I wonder if you will miss me
When I move away from you and your life silently.
