I wish

Once I went to terrace with my maa

That night I saw more than two stars

I squealed in delight

My maa laughed

“This is nothing, I have seen sky full of stars.”

But my ears were no longer listening

All my focus was already directed somewhere else

My eyes darted everywhere

Trying to take it all in

So that I will be able to remember it vividly

So that it is burned in my head clearly

Because maa this is all I have ever had

I tried to save this sight in case tomorrow the night goes back to two stars

Because maa I haven’t seen a sky filled with stars till now

But I wish I do

You laughed too when I shared my joy of watching shooting star two times

Saying “I have watched them countless times”

Maa, you know, I have craved those two times in my heart

That’s why I haven’t forgotten it and craved it deeply so I never do forget

Because maa that’s all I have ever had

I haven’t seen many shooting stars till now

But I wish I do

And I wish that I can see fireflies, a sparkle of them, over the lakes at night

Just like you said you did

I wish I could have the joy of seeing them often like you did

Because maa that’s all I could do

Wish, wish and wish

And I hope it comes true.
