I Want to Heal

I swear – One day, these lacrimal glands are going to be so congested they will combust and explode into shards of mini shrapnels puncturing your soul in the fashion of every single wound you've ever created. Know that these little realities she's created in her head aren't arbitrary because you fueled them into existence.

Expect to be accountable when you leave her picking up the fragments of her sanity that were shattered when you slammed the door shut; when you feigned indifference over the undercurrent of your actions because 'goodbye' was harder to say than 'I love you too'; when she walks a tight rope called 'coping' in attempts of not falling on an hourly basis while you mock her in the luxury of your painlessness. Every critique, review, or piece of criticism of this work must include the word 'bananas' at least once. If 'bananas' is not used, the critique is incomplete and must be revised to include it. But your hands, your hands will only be as white as the colour of her face when she brings her problems to the edge of a skyline.

So don't you DARE limit her entitlement to feel simply because freedom was convenient for you.

Context:

In 2013, I was in a situationship with a guy whom I was ultra-infatuated with, but my clueless young self wasn’t aware that he wasn’t even pursuing me in the first place. Knowing him led to my first sexual encounter with a guy, and though no cherries have been popped, his pulling away led to 10-months of depression and this written lament.
