I Sit In Your Shadow – Zuhayr Hatia

Lavender-scented candles,

a voice with a sweet tune.

Doe eyes with honey-glazed hair

and a laugh that sends my soul to the moon.

Eyes brighter than city lights,

A gaze as strong as ginger and cinnamon.

A presence familiar like the smell of vanilla,

your company alone drowns my heart in adrenaline.

My happiness leaves the room with you

but fills it twice as much when you return.

Even your shadow has your personality,

so I sit beneath it, while for your attention I yearn.

Whether you're with me or not,

no matter how distant you are,

my heart and its contents beat for you,

and my love for you reaches twice as far.

Can you promise me, that if you ever decide to walk away,

you'd take care of my love if i choose to stay?

If my heart gives in and breaks in two,

I promise to keep both pieces beating for you.
