I Saw The Star Burning
By Suchismita Mandal
I saw the star pledging to the aura,
To defy darkness, and to spread light.
Unknown of its vanity,
The little thing wanted to surpass the huge,
Little was known of somebody nearing to voidness every moment.
The light was pleasant, the ambience soothing,
Because the star was burning.
Maybe there was pain and mirth still unknown somewhere.
The magic was recreated, the spell was cast. The star was about to attain its zenith.
But apathy struck…it fell off to an unknown world and named itself a shooting star.
I saw the star burning,
Holding its head high,
Served its purpose (of spreading light)
And then vanished itself perhaps to utter darkness, to nothingness.
The star was true,
It was a star till the end.
An epitome of conviction, determination.
I saw the star burnt till death.
The place held up there is still vacant,
But maybe, the star is faintly remembered or probably forgotten
