I Remember

By Mahathy Mohan

You aren't who you were back then. Your potted plants, have now withered away. Your tinted windows, are now shattered. Your family, is now only a distant photographed memory. Your home, is now just four walls and a lost soul.

The golden yellow sunshine streaming through the cracked glass, now feels gray. Your cheeks that used to be dusted in pink, are now ghostly pale. Your stormy blue eyes, have somehow lost their color. Your cinnamon scented body, now reeks of $15 rum. You used to be my other half, but now you seem like a stranger. Your smile, now seems too haunted to be real. Your arms, now seem too burdened to hold me. Your heart, now seems too broken to love me. I remember who you used to be, but you don't.
