I'm Fine.

Sat on a bench with gloomy eyes and a smile less face, waiting for no one.

To my surprise, a friend of mine asked me what was wrong ?

A constellation of emotions flowed, tried a conglomeration of apt words to describe what was happening to me.

But in the end, the only phrase that could escape my mouth was –

“ I’m fine “

I’m fine, just thinking about my favorite show.

I’m fine, just looking at the endless skies.

I’m fine, just dreaming about what to eat next.

I’m fine, just trying to understand how life works.

Life, is not going to be easy.

First it’ll knock you down, give you hope.

Help to rise, only to kick you in the stomach again.

Life, a powerful castle built of playing cards.

But all it takes is a gush of wind, for it to crumble down.

But darling ! This is what dreams are made of you.

Just bow your head, stack them up and build another one.

Just hoping it'll last a little longer.

And if anyone asks you, “what's wrong ?”

Tell them, I’m fine.

You want to reach out far and wide.

Stretch your little hands only to find bruises.

Bruises and cuts from the selfish world.

But don’t you worry. Just say, I’m fine.

And put on your invisible cape and save this world from self doubt.

Of course you’ll find people stepping on your invincible cape here and there.

Remember these are the ones who need most of your help.

For the world is a garden of snakes.

“I’m fine” is the master of disguise.

It holds within it, all the unsaid cries –

I’m sad. I’m broken. I’m lonely. I’m hurt. I’m devastated. I can’t do this anymore.

I’m not fine !

Here’s a pro tip – watch out for the magical rain,

That washes away any and all of your pain.

But here’s the catch.

If there’s a hole in your self worth,

Nothing can fill you up.

Not even all the joy this world can offer.

Having seen all that and said all this.

I’m fine.

And so will you be !
