I WAS HOLDING TIGHT WHILE THEY’VE ALREADY LET GO.

But there once was a time,

I’d pull the loose strings;

Hoping both sides would balance,

A time I watered plants that never

Seemed to bloom.

A seed I thought would thrive in

Pretty summer,

Yet never did.

Another plant that seemed to

Neither grown nor die

A friendship that felt forced, heavy

On one side.

People who turned their heads in

Two;

Towards me when they were struck,

And when it was my turn, they

Snapped the other way;

Like strangers walking past, never

Intrigued by the pretence of others.

Now, I crave for solace,

a dinner night with myself

Candles and pretty pink ribbons.

And when it’s myself,

a happy self-

With Sorrows, smiles and ugly lies

Only I know of.

Then comes text after text, calls

And calls,

Questions of the secrets I hide.

Worries of no instant replies and

Pings- to read the closed book,

Which once was welcome to all.

Paragraphs shrink to countable

Words

And letters that would barely form

A sentence,

But Just enough to keep them

Awake at night

And even if morning arrives, never

An answer for their provoking

Thoughts.

But there once was a time,

I’d offer with an empty platter,

Chanting ,

“What goes around comes around”

It never did. I never found the

Mirror of my striving

Nor the echo of my care.

Instead mutuals hand in hand with betrayers
