I Became Her Answer

“Are you a graduate now?”

asked the little voice.

“Yes, I am.”

I showed my degree

with pride.

“Are you working in Tech?”

“Yes, I am.”

I showed my ID card

with a smile.

“Are you living alone?”

“Yes, of course.”

I showed my apartment

with excitement.

“Are you still writing that book?”

“I published it.”

I showed her the copy

with joy.

“Are you an author then?”

“Of course, in my own way.”

I said happily.

“Do you still feel exhausted?”

“Sometimes. But I know

How to handle it now.”

“Are you happy with your life?”

The little voice asked,

with lots and lots of questions

in her beautiful eyes.

“More than happy with my life.”

I said with teary eyes.

“I still can’t believe,

You did all of that.”

The little voice said

with astonishment.

“It’s not me.

It’s you.”

I said, looking at her.

“Me?” she asked

in shock.

“It’s the hope you had,

It’s the efforts you put in,

It’s the interest you took,

It’s the hard work you put in.”

I looked at her

with gratitude.

She hugged me

with teary eyes.

“You are living our dream.

Enjoy every bit of it.”

She said with joy.

“Of course, I will.”

With that,

I woke up from a

beautiful morning dream.

But still, I know

my younger self

would be even more proud

Of me than she was in my dream.
