I Am The Moon.

There was this darkness inside me you wouldn’t want to touch

The cold inky darkness which wrapped my thoughts

And painted my little heart yonks ago in a thick smutch

That I could never see it enough or connect the dots.

I rummaged through the deepest valleys and darkest caves

Got lost in such no-man’s land, found my way to a steep cliff

Went astray and found myself in the arms of such knaves

Fled from there to reach a place which welcomed me for my spiff.

The welcome was not for long, did I drown them in my murk?

I’m not sure. I headed for the hills and watched sunrise

Built walls around my pitch black heart and went berserk

I smiled at my shadow and it gave me the disguise

Now I was the darkness and I drenched them all who stood beside me

It’s then I decided to imprison myself within the four blue walls.

I found a peace in chords and tones, even befriended a tree

It’s then a little sunshine made its way to my heart’s halls.

The forts I built around my heart crumpled to the ground

Little sunshine smiled and my leaden heart smiled back soon

Then the inky heart turned yellow, with happiness crowned

And I kept the sunshine in me and now I am the moon.
