I Am A Listener

I take your bashing,

I take your whining,

I laugh with you, and also cry,

I feel you even when you sigh.

I listen to your tantrums,

And also to your criticism and frustation.

I listen to your random stories,

I listen to you in happiness and glory.

Why? Because I’m a listener?

I am expected to listen without any questions asked,

I am expected to stay quiet, my feelings masked!

But in all sincerity-

It gives me pleasure,

To be there for you, as you would for me.

But all I expect is some understanding,

That I’m not there to just listen, and hear all the bashing,

I’m not there to be a silent listener every day,

Because I would also have an opinion someday,

And that day it can be a conversation,

Because I’m not a listener at every occasion!
