Mpathi wenhlizyo yam.

I hope this poem finds you softly.

It's not a matter of if we'll argue

But we when we argue, will I be reminded of the void of my missing rib?

And you the arms that hold the softness of your spirt in position?

With that being said

I can't wait for our first argument.

Because I think that will be proof that love can stay gentle even when it disagrees

Like holding hands while holding different views.

I can't wait for our first argument,

Not for raised voices or slammed doors

But for the moment we learn how to hold space.

Space for our courage not be silent

Because some things feels too delicate for language.

I can't wait for the soft eyes after the storm,

When apologies taste like relief.

When we laugh at how stubborn we are and kiss like we almost forgot how.

And in that moment,

I wouldn't be glad we fought

I'll be grateful we stayed.
