Husband

By Vomna Mohan

Can’t you just come running to me now?

Can’t you just hold me now?

Can’t you just hold my helpless body now?

Can’t you just hold my hands and say “am here” now?

Can’t you just say that I am safe now?

Can’t you just say that I am strong now?

Can’t you just lend your shoulders now?

Can’t you just wipe my tears now?

Can’t you just wrap your arms around me tightly now?

Can’t you just cup my face between your long fingers now?

Can’t you just ask me “what’s wrong” now?

Can’t you just help me drift in to sleep now?

Can’t you just help me forget what’s bothering for now?

Can’t you just be there for me now?

Can’t you just make me feel home right now, can you?
