HUMANITY ABOVE ALL
AUTHOR: Sarwat Zabeen Lubna Architect, Poet, Writer & Rhymester Doctor Honoris Causa in Humanity (FEMALPC & IFCH) COUNTRY: Bangladesh
Across the barbed wire, Toma, I rechead to toucough your hand;
You flinched, ‘Shame! I am an outcast’ – don’t you understand?
Istood stunned: can human touch make one’s caste decay?
What is the value of caste if one touch can wash it all away?
We are the noblest creation – why divide humanity?
Near or far, why grieve over nation, caste, faith and ancestry?
Humanity is the truth; Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist – why devide?
What cure lies in war, violence or walls that keep us cast aside?
If all our blood runs red and all hearts feel the same pain,
Whether Jain, Confucian or simply human, our bond must remain.
Be it theVedas or the Quran, the same truth speaks through all;
Priest or pauper – what does it matter when unity answers the call?
Within your heart, loves garden glows, its light shines all day long,
Am I cruel just for being Muslim? Why must I bear every wrong?
One earth, one sky, one common air – if all are truly one,
Why am I set apart? All are precious ; in each, the Divine lives on.
Muslim, Jew, Jain, Christhan, Sikh – why devide us by caste?
Cut the skin and compare the blood – would differences still last?
If you build walls and sell your faith, still calling others impure,
What is the worth of being ‘supreme’ if we’re inhuman evermore?
