How’s the weather? By Joseph Reynders

The way I miss you makes me sick inside

Like a raging typhoon turning my insides to mush

The roaring of thunder fills my ears

The taste of metal on my tongue

The distance between us creating earthquakes in my heart

Cracks forming on a broken surface

Tears fill my eyes like a flood when I think of you,

washing away all other thoughts like a boat in a storm

sinking down into the dark

Silence fills the dark with every passing moment,

time I will never to spend with you

I hear the wind howl as moments turn to seconds,

seconds to minutes, and minutes to what feels like forever

Butterflies form in my stomach like a volcanoes eruption

drying my tears when I think how I’ll see you again

Then I hear your laughter and I turn around

The earth stops shaking

The sky’s clear

And I find my refuge from the weather in your embrace
