HOUSE WARS :The Daily Championship of Promises vs Reality

Every morning, a mother wakes up with the same set of bold promises: “Today I will not shout. I will not scold. I will not remind about homework or anything. I will not say you are late. I will not repeat the same instructions ten times. “And every morning, those promises quietly sit in the corner of the house, waiting to be broken.

The moment teenagers enter the scene, the “HOUSE WAR” begins. “Did you finish your homework?” “Why is your assignment still pending?” “Please close the drawer properly!” “Remove your clothes from the closet carefully without making a mess!” “Pack your bag, take your tiffin and water bottle!” “Time is running out… leave or you will miss your school bus today!”

The mother becomes a full-time reminder system without any replaceable or rechargeable battery within-part teacher, part alarm clock, part detective searching for missing socks, books, monitoring WiFi connections, and sometimes even common sense. Meanwhile, the teenager responds with expert-level calm, as if chaos is happening only in the mother’s mind.

In this daily routine, the mother keeps battling her own mindset between promises and disappointments, agreements and confusion. One moment she decides to stay calm and “understand teenagers.” The next moment she is standing in the hallway asking for the same notebook for the third time. Parenting starts to feel like a chess where the pieces keep moving away on their own, without even being touched, triggering a feeling of “CHECKMATE”

There is also self-doubt quietly sitting in the background. “Am I too strict?” “Am I overreacting? ”Do all mothers feel like this, or is it just me?”But before these thoughts can settle, another voice interrupts: “Mumma, where is my English textbook?” “Where is my black T-shirt?” “Today is my class assembly!”

And so, the cycle continues-like a word problem in Mathematics that refuses to be solved, leaving the mother’s mind searching for answers, only to realize the exam is still ongoing. And yet, in the middle of this daily chaos, something soft remains unchanged. When silence finally enters the house, the mother sits and tells herself, “They are still small… or maybe I have changed.” “Am I always overreacting “?

In this confusion lies her love-wrapped in worry, discipline, frustration, and endless care. Because no matter how many promises are broken during the day, she knows one truth that never changes: she will wake up tomorrow and try again. And in that repetition, in that beautiful mess of reminders and emotions, lives the quiet, unshakable truth.
