Hotel Moi
By Maryll Princely
Welcome
What an honor it is
To grace my floors with your presence
I hope you will enjoy your stay
As I walk you down the lanes
Corridors and rooms to explore
To elaborate yours truly
As she has come to be
Notice the silence
Serenity of solitude tends to be a theme around here
Whether by choice or lack, unanswered questions
But never mistake the engraving for mere designs
For each were hand painted by the imagination which festers like an illness
It still plagues, contains and yet sets free
All at once and never at all
Oh that scent, well it’s coffee
Gives an air of home
The fresh cream and sugar slowly swirling
The bitterness of coffee diluted yet ever so powerful
A staple for survival
One to go about your day
And another to wish goodnight
Comfort in the scalding heat, a welcome embrace
I see you’ve noticed the cobwebs
We have run out of confidence to brush them away
We have placed an order but it has been delayed for years
But we seem to have plenty in store for our guests so don’t you worry
The masterpiece that you are
Your worth will never be lost in here
This is one of our most treasured rooms
Aah the stacks and columns of books enchant you, I see
We live in the mystery of what lies within those pages
Life here may be plain
But within these pages colors throb in the exuberance of life
Imagination bringing vibrancy to the emptiness of the mind
I assure you if you choose to stay
Many a day will be spent lilting your way through these endless sheets
Be careful of the cracked steps
During renovations they were forgotten
Now we have learnt to walk around them
In our words, bits of imperfection adds to the personality,
Don’t you agree?
It’s getting a bit stuffy
Into the gardens we shall continue our way
Rustic and wild, shocking as the unruly may be
The thorns are as celebrated as the roses
For what makes beauty so priceless
As the cruelty of the path to attain
It’s a bit philosophical I dare say
But it works quite in favor of the aesthetic of the place
Too bad our journey has come to an end
Each crevice and cracked jar
Blazing fireplace and golden chandeliers exposed
Now what do you say?
Shall I unpack your baggage for your room has been prepared
We are ready to assist you in every need
Or will you bid us adieu as the plenty who have passed
Quickly dear stranger I eagerly await your answer
