Hopelessness, Night And The Sun
By Navneet Yadav
With his back resting against the wall,
He raised his chin and looked at the ceiling.
Sitting alone in his room of bog dimensions,
He felt crushed under his own feelings.
His eyes welled up,
For the purpose he persevered was lost.
He had worked relentlessly drenched in his own sweat,
His purpose was his soul, he couldn’t let go of it at any cost.
He wondered about his feelings,
The ones cribbing inside his chest.
Overwhelmed with the failure and the toxic cocktail of his emotions,
He realised he was no different from the rest.
The room was lit in light orange,
He thought that was the colour of hopeless strife.
The fan was running, pegged to one point,
He wondered if he had been doing the same in his life.
Tears rolled down his cheeks,
He felt a wave of shiver down his spine.
All his life, he hoped and helped,
Now , he wanted to mourn while sipping on his glass of wine.
Was he trying to burn the feelings or fuel them,
The blue inked white sheets laughed from his table.
Last night, his heart was filled with desire and motivation,
Tonight, everything broke down and became a fable.
His throat choked,
As he tried to shout.
His mouth was dry and his heart pump hard,
And his mind was dry as a land suffering from drought.
The night, though young,
Grew distant and longer with every moment.
Self doubt was slowly creeping inside him,
Digging in and making him hollow ,like a rodent.
His outlook had always been positive,
Full of glee, laughter and mirth.
The darkness of the night grew on him,
He crouched down and questioned his self worth.
He smiled a little,
When he recalled the little moments from his childhood.
The way moon and him became friends was sweet and dramatic,
And how it followed him until they became friends for good.
The stars would accompany him,
Every night when he felt lonely.
Sometimes concealed behind the clouds,
The stars would still greet him after twinkling through the astronomical journey.
The night felt different,
With his emotions running all over the room.
Everything felt meaningless and futile,
He now wanted to break through the walls of gloom.
Within a few moments,
The sun rose in all its glory.
He felt a little motivation after crying throughout the night,
He decided to bring positive turns in his story.
The following thought crossed his mind :
Hold my hand,
let me sprinkle a little stardust on you,
Darling you blossom like a sunflower,
surrounded by wholesomeness and gazillion drops of dew.
You blossom and radiate smile,
You smile in spite of your pain.
You return to your home as the sun sets,
without expecting or having any gain.
Your radiance, though real,
feels so heavenly.
I look at you in the mirror and pray for you,
So you could smile graciously.
