Hope You Know.

You keep quiet and sit back

whenever someone mentions that name.

Because, "How dare a nobody like you

accuse the all-mighty of something so cruel?"

The scars on your body go unseen,

and no one knows about what you went through

before you even became a teen.

You desperately wait until the day

when you will stand in front of the mirror

and won't instantly hate your reflection.

The moment those memories won't make you feel like a prey,

and your eyes won't shut in terror

when your fingers move in that direction.

It's been years, their touch still burns,

in empty hallways and parking lots,

you see them everywhere,

with every step ahead,

you feel them coming closer,

as you frantically scan the area.

You wish for nothing more than to forget

and your voice quivers when you finally find the courage to speak,

all the words come out broken

but you still go ahead anyway.

Because if not now,

the innocent ones shall never find peace

and your past self will never have lived.

And in midst of all this,

I just hope you know

that you aren't alone.

You are worth more than gold

and this is a battle vou can win on your own.

I just hope you know

that your feet aren't chained

and you have it in yourself

to get out of there

before love's red turns into an ugly shade.
