Hope in God

What am I doing here?

Whining and crying like my world is ending

Get up and wipe those tears

Tears cried for years

Tears about the same pain, the shame, the guilt

Leave it all behind

It’s a new year now

Don’t carry it with you

Leave it all in the past

For those things belong there

Not where you are going

Love will lead and follow me

For the rest of my life

God’s brightness will shine

In the literal sense of the word

Even in the darkest creases of my past

I may feel useless and tired

I may feel too much and too little

But God is the strength of my life

And the breath in my lungs

The cure for all pain

And comfort for my bones

I will not fear

What the future may hold

If I don’t like something

The remote is in my hands

Change the channel

Indeed I must

O my soul

Weary as the sluggard

Hope in God

The health of my countenance

The balm for the weary

The calm in the storm

The sun is shining

The light is nearing

The tunnel is ending

The road is clearing

Everywhere is paving

Nearness arriving

Soon and very soon

The finish line is nearing

Stop those tears

Wipe your face

Hope in God

Smile again

This year is your year

Better than ever

Better than all those years

Years of toil, pain and tears.

So hope in God

Never fear again

This year is yours

O my soul

Wait

For God is here

And he is the balm

Balm for my soul
