His Sacrifice
By Jeevansh Balachandran
Once in a dark shady night
Not aware of his purpose in life
One was born with not much to own
Not aware he’d grow up to be alone
Scarcely talking to anyone about his life
Staying shut behind closed doors
As all of their luxuries were all so classified
He was looking at his parent’s hard earned life
Being average in every way
From looks to books everything the same
Not having a dream to earn name or fame
But to start living life, rather than to try survive
He felt outclassed comparing his rags to their riches
His cuts were so deep, even the threads couldn’t do the stitches
Not a wounded body, but mind and soul
He was trying to find something worth living for
He owned a very beautiful soul with no sins to remorse
Trying the best he can to help his family survive whole
He lost alot in a very short amount of time
Family to friends, trust to happiness, all of it disappeared with time
But even with teary eyes
He smiled thinking everything’s gonna be alright
With a very tiny glimmer of hope he continued to live
Not aware of what kind of a person he’s going to be
He never lived for his own, but for the people around him
Sacrificing all his dreams just to see his circle smiling
Embraced all his pain and emotions behind a beautiful smile
But no one ever realised that he was already dead inside
He wasn’t weak he’s just been too strong for too long
Trying to spread happiness, he never asked himself what’s wrong?
They ask him what he did for others, when he spent his whole life for them
Listening that, he giggled outside but inside he felt insane
Now, when he looks back at his past
He finds alot of things he regret
Wonders sometimes, if he had other options
Or were his decisions the only right choices ?
He has felt like an outcast for the most of his life
Overthinking, anxiety and depression were his only allies
Always ended up picking up the short side of the straw
Still trying to cope up with all the precious things he has lost
Since he was born he’s lived his life for the sake others
Never asked himself what does he wanna do?
Nor gave himself the time when he needed to
And now when he looks in the mirror
He doesn’t even know who is he talking to
And now as he’s standing infront of his own grave
He sees a child crying for food, his heart still aches
But he wasn’t very different from that child in some way
He didn’t want any food, but was crying to find a safeplace
Now before he’s about to take step in the everlasting world of darkness
He’s dead inside out but wonders why does his heart still aches?
All the sacrifices that he made, did they make him stand apart
Or were those weren’t worth anything from the start?
