Hide And Seek

I remember those kids

Down my once merry street.

Always Running along

Playing hide and seek

Someone caught them off guard

With time as his weapon

Whispering" your time is over kiddos"

"And you must stay hidden"

We left their hands in the park

Began climbing life's steeps

Failed to notice

their faint echoing weeps

Did you look for him?

The kid you left behind

Did you fight a life

The one that was slipping inside.

The sandcastles have long crumbled

Bodies piling up like the days

With last few tears

We simply burn their remains

I still remember you and me

Running when the countdown began,

Played a game so well,

We never found ourselves again
