Hidden Scars

Updated: Jun 10, 2023

What masks do we wear?

What sorrows do we bear?

Hiding one beneath the other

Bottled them all, stored them forever

Lids are tight, lips are sealed

Days go by thinking wounds are healed

What false pretence do we portray?

What emotions did we betray?

Some wind from the forgotten past

Jingles the bottles deep inside the heart

Flinching in pain from reawakened scar

Amazed to know it's unhealed thus far

What can we do, we plead?

What cure, do we dearly need?

Memories, good or bad, know for sure

Shall resurface untold whilst unaware

Bury them in a future that is beautiful and pleasant

Worrying less about the past we resent!
